ILLEGAL

Quote:...he turns hunters' blinds away from nearby trails so the "illegals" don't get shot by accident. (page 2)
Reflections: I thought this quote was interesting due to the fact that my dad hunts also. Hank states that he believes he is saving lives by turning hunters away from shooting at illegals. Yes in a large way he is helping the illegals but he also covering up what is really going on or at least trying to mask and edit the reality of whats happening. Hank does this in order to "protect the psychological state of the hunters." I do believe he is helping the immigrants but at the same he is covering up the truth in a way.

Quote:One study estimates that illegal immigratns displace 730,000 American workers every year.
Reflections: I thought this statistic was very interesting in the fact that although the number sound ridiculously high, compared the number of working citizens, it really is not that much. Living in TX where the stereotype is all maintenance workers are illegals immigrants, it just goes to show how wrong that assumption is. The article goes on to say only 17% of workers in bulding, cleaning and maintenance occupations are illegal.

Quote: "I'm tired of watching the United States government allow illegal line-jumpers, killers and American haters to cross the border and threaten safety."
Reflections: In this quote the author Michelle Malkin uses the word illegal in a negative connotation because she puts the word in the same category with killers and terrorist. Also she states that they threaten safety in America.

Quote:"In the desert, we are all illegal aliens." (120)
Reflections:In death's eyes all beings are the same. The heat from the desert does not discriminate based on citizenship. Death does not care what country you are from, every life is equal.

Quote: Of course, the illegals have always been called names other than human--wetback, taco-bender.
Reflections: I've been called a wetback before and it's not very nice. Why would someone want to downgrade another person just because they come from another country?

Source: Congressman proposes wall along border with mexico.
Quote: A republican from california wants the United States to build a high-tech wall along the border with Mexico to keep out illegal immigrants.
Reflections: The word illegal is being used in a negative manner in this sentence. The way is used in this sentence is like if illegals were a disease that are infecting the United States.
