Reflections:Every man that was out in the blistering heat waiting for Mendez to return with salvation was trying to survive by seeking shade under lonesome trees. This shade was their sanctuary. This shade was the only thing that could provide them with the smallest amount of relief and hope. This non-existent shade that separated each man into their own small, torturing world was their only glimpse of any sanctuary for miles.
